Piikani Nation Chief and Counsel recognize that there are plenty of questions with respect to potential unmarked graves around the old residential schools. To the People of Piikani Nation, Piikani Nation Chief and Council have been working behind the scenes to develop a comprehensive frequently asked question document related to the Grassy Mountain Steelmaking Coal Project and Piikani Nation’s continued support for it. Below you will find a robust and comprehensive document that begins to answer many of the questions the People of Piikani Nation have been asking about this project. Included are answers related lo the environment, the consultation process, and the benefits of the project that Piikani Nation will receive.
A petition for the removal of Councillor Brian Jackson from Council was received by Chief and Council. The petition included extensive evidence that was considered carefully by Chief and Council. Pursuant to the Election Bylaw, Chief and Council have referred the petition to the Piikani Nation Removal Appeals Board for a decision as to whether Councillor Jackson should be removed as councillor.
