Join Our Team as an Operations & Maintenance Technologist (Exclusive Opportunity for Piikani Nation Members)
We are excited to offer this exclusive opportunity for a member of the Piikani Nation to join our team as an Operations & Maintenance Technologist at the Lethbridge Northern Headworks System. This role plays a pivotal part in operating and maintaining a key segment of our water management infrastructure.
As a valued team member, you will:
- Be responsible for the operation and maintenance of 80 km of canal within the water management system.
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of various water management components, prioritizing operational requirements and public safety.
- Provide crucial technical support to the Oldman River Basin Operations and Infrastructure Team.
- Uphold regulatory compliance to guarantee a sustainable water supply for future generations.
- Participate in an on-call standby rotation (over and above a 40-work week).
This position requires an individual capable of independent decision-making, swift emergency response, and a strong commitment to team collaboration and workplace safety.
Minimum recruitment standard for this role:
- Two-year technical diploma (Engineering or a related field) plus two years related experience.
- Equivalencies may be considered.
Assets:
- Experience in construction, operations, inspection, maintenance, and rehabilitation of water management infrastructure.
- Extensive knowledge of hydraulic structures, geotechnical instrumentation, electro-mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in various operational software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel ,and PowerPoint) WISKI, SCADA Controls, and EIMS.
- Required certifications: Standard First Aid, Defensive Driving, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS/TDG.
