Acknowledgment of the Mounting Loss of Life in our Community

Grief from the amount of people that have died within the last year is quickly overwhelming many us, making it difficult to cope.

While many have passed from natural causes, there is also a disproportionate number of us losing life to addiction and poor health.

The saying "when it rains it pours" fails to scratch the surface of what our community is experiencing.

We encourage you to reach out to the supports available within the community and the broader public.

We are grateful for our traditional and family leaders that continue to serve as unwavering examples of resilience. The product of your effort is immeasurable and uplifts us in these challenging times.

The fortitude and grit of our frontline staff has remained so strong for such a long time. Through a pandemic and now this, your boundless effort has provided services that many of us have come to rely upon and appreciate.

Support comes in many forms, and we are certain that everyone has provided meaningful help in one way or another. No effort is too small when many of us are doing it.

Each of us is carrying much loss and it is essential that we remain compassionate toward one another. Please continue to take care of yourselves and each other.
